I went to the Library Christmas party at 4 today (which was sweet because I was still paid for being there and eating food and getting plied with alchohol). It was alot of fun because my first library superviser ever Mary-Ellen is a real film buff and she has a girly hard-on for Roman Polanski so we talked about that.

And then my old TA who works in preservation showed up, and he's so queer he sparkles. He brought his two kids with him, the second one was born while he was teaching section. He picked up his cell-phone in the middle of class and was like OHMYGOD, MY KID! And then raced out of section.

AND THEN my old boss, Craig, and his fiance (who is british) came by. She's really sweet, and he cleans up really good. I'm used to seeing him in jeans and tennies, and he was wearing pinstriped pants and a grey shirt, made him look very professional. He's my Firefly/Dr. Who buddy at the library, and I was like YOU MUST SEE MERLIN. And his fiance was like MY DAD WATCHES MERLIN.

Bahahahahahahahah.

And then she turned to him and said, "It's very homoerotic."

SO, what should I do for dinner? Au Bon Pain? The Dining Hall? Atticus? Thoughts?

Craig was like, "Er, no thanks."

Also, they had a high school band playing the music. And they were so lame. They didn't have a bassist, so one of the guitarists was playing on the bass part on his guitar.

It seems to me that the ratio of "Lauren Emo-ing" posts to "Lauren telling you about her day" posts is quite heavily skewed in the favor of Emo-ing. This is no good. I do have good days. I swear.

Yesterday, I saw Justice Kennedy of the Supreme court speak. I don't even like his decisions for the most part and he was amazing--humorous and self-deprecating at the same time that he had some really poignant insights about the United States and the other courts of the world. He's also one of those people that you look at and think, "oh what a nice old man." In any event, I mostly liked what he had to say.

My dad took me to pizza afterwards and then I had to run off to work in the library. Oh to be paid again. It's lovely. After I got off work the evening was just filled with TV. Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy (I took a break and did homework), Dr. Who, and Nip/Tuck. It was very satisfying.

And that was it. Oh yeah, and then it started randomly freak pouring. Couldn't quite figure that out.

Y'all remember the boy I was talking about in the last couple of entries? Well he called me five times before 2:15. Jesus Christ, do I have to hit him upside the head with a post for him to get it?

On to brighter topics. It was my first day back at work! Woohoo! Of course Matt Glickman rescheduled me for stacks training, and I was like "DUDE, I worked right next to you last year for FOUR MONTHS!" and of course George walks up and says, "VERONICA! You're back!"

*headdesk* I will forever be known as Veronica to that man. And if not that, than as one of the Katies. Despite being relegated to anonymity I actually had a good day at work, although I'm a little below par in my accuracy checking prowess. Only 50 in an hour? I was at twice that in April.

ALSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I'm kind of at a loss for what to draw since I did Robin Hood!Dean, I don't suppose you have any ideas?

I have a part time job as a librarian, which is just about the most ironic thing ever. I love books, but I have an aversion to libraries, because I like owning things not borrowing them. But anyway, I bet you never really thought about how complicated a library is. Let me tell you, there is so much paperwork and organizing and sorting and accuracy checking. Jesus. Granted we have 4.8 million volumes and I think 15 floors total, so um, if one got lost it's very likely we would never see it again. BLAH, I got back from work today though, thinking about what a humongous waste of paper that must have been. I feel like an entire forest is used in a day.

COME ON GUYS, I FEEL LIKE WE DON'T HAVE TO USE SO MUCH PAPER WORK!

So everybody is uploading music, so I thought I would upload some of the songs that I think are totally teh wincest even if they aren't classic rock...

a-ha's "Analogue" a really sweet song and I feel it really embodies the disjoint in the communication between the brothers.
The Cardigan's "You're The Storm" It's very girly, but seriously, if you listen to the lyrics you'll be blown away
The Feeling's "Sewn" I really have no words for this song. I'm sure you'll understand when you listen.

Anyway, that's all for today, maybe I should upload a song each day. Get you all acquainted with one of the most important things in my life--the music.
