Ah, sunday bloody sunday. I don't know what it is about Sundays, they suck even during the summer when I don't have school. But at least my mother is visiting. We went shopping and coffee shop trolling and book store browzing. It was a lot of fun. Not to mention she took Kaley and I to see Music and Lyrics, which was totally darling. I like romantic comedies, but very few of them capture my heart forever and ever (funny that so many of the ones I love have Drew Barrymore in them...Never Been Kissed, Ever After, and now this). But this movie definitely gets my recommendation, so if you want to see Hugh Grant in tight pants ACTUALLY singing (in the Long Island Adventureland, Kaley would like to stress) than you should go see it RIGHT AWAY.

And now for something completely different...

Rec me some good Fantasy Books, people. I've read pretty much all of Holly Black, Liz Berry, Libba Bray, George R. R. Martin, Diana Wynne Jones, Jacqueline Carey, and Neil Gaiman--SO anything I should check out besides that?

[livejournal.com profile] apathyartist, come on, I know you have a lot to say.

Finally, for all of you within walking distance of me (which, surprisingly is quite a lot of you, what with the way Old Campus works), Meredith and I are going to see 23! YOU MUST COME.

Okay. I'm done.

Have you tried 'Good Omens' by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett? And, if you liked that, then it's a nice little segue into Terry Pratchett's 'Discworld' stuff...I recommend the ones that feature either Death or the Watch prominently. If you like vampires 'n sex 'n magic 'n stuff then try Laurell K Hamilton's two series - Anita Blake and Merry Gentry. They are heavy on the sex, though. Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels are also an excellent read, although I recommend reading them in order...

Wow - you probably didn't want so much! Um...I'm just gonna go back to my corner and hide! *blushes*

I have read Neil Gaiman's ENTIRE ouvre, read the Pern Novels, read some disc world, I will definitely have to look up Laurell K Hamilton. I take it you're rather fond of merry gentry.

Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Chosen series is all pretty sex heavy too, considering that the main character is a courtesan.

I might try to track those down then. Sorry I couldn't be more help - most of my books are at home, and I forgot what I had! *facepalm*

I really liked the Hamilton books - I would have taken 'Anita Blake' for my i.d but at the time it was taken! *rolls eyes* The best thing is that neither series is finished, so there's always new books!

Oh man, I hate it when series aren't finished. I'm reading George R.R. Martin and it's like WHEN WILL YOU WIND THIS UP. HAVE YOU NO SOUL?

Katherine Kerr's books are pretty good, and so are Mercedes Lackey's Herald Mage books. Her books were the first I read with gay characters in them.
And yeah, I would definitely recommend Anne McCaffrey. Not only the Pern novels, but the Brain ship books, too. :)

Read the Herald Mage books. Not a big fan. I really liked her remixes of fairy tales, those were good.

OH!. lol. The Herald Mage books were the first of hers I read. I liked them better than the rest. I did not like Magic's Price, though. I felt she wrote him completely out of character just to finish the trilogy.

Her Bedlam's Bard series is pretty good, too. She co-writes those with someone else whose name escapes me....

I used to read R.A. Salvatore, too. He annoyed me with one book, and then I lost interest, unfortunately.
His hand writing is just like my brother's. :O
