AHAH, you clicked it. Okay, well I need a favor so that I can officially finish my Sophomore year of college. In my sociolinguistics class we're ending the year with studies, and we're trying to figure out if there's a difference in speech in how women talk about sex and masturbation. Most of these questions, unfortunately, are not ideal for regression, but we're still curious.

IF YOU ANSWER IT (PLEASE, PLEASE DO, I'VE ALREADY POLLED MY CLASSMATES BUT THEY'RE A VERY SPECIFIC SAMPLE), I WILL WRITE A DIRTY-HOT-WRONG MASTURBATION SEQUENCE INTO MY PREP SCHOOL AU, AND GET TWIN TO DO SOMETHING FOR YOU. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YET, BUT SHE'LL DO IT.

[Poll #1185744]

I'll write a really embarrassing fan letter to Jensen on how much his lips hook me in and how much I love wincest and how much I imagine him and Jared doing it every day of the week, if you don't answer this poll, I SWEAR it!

Also, if you know anybody else who's curious about this sort of thing, PLEASE link to this. I promise that once I've done the models, I'll publish the results on here.

ETA: OHMYGOD, you guys are so awesome. This is such a huge number of responses, I can't even begin to thank you.

I have a brother and an ex-husband and I can honestly say that other than when my husband and I were talking about doing it together or for each other...I've never heard boys talk about masturbation either.

Are guys REALLY fine with it, or is that a stereotype too? I'm honestly asking, but I think it's waaaaay exaggerated, true or not.

Well, once we WALKED IN on a guy doing it but that was horrifying for everyone involved.

I'm comparing to a study I did of guys at my school, and of course there could have been response-bias, but not only do they talk about it more frequently than girls claimed to, they talked about it with more ease.

I guess my point though was that guys think they're meant to talk about it, so they say they do whether they actually do or not. Like girls are meant to talk about weddings from the time they're four years old, or whatever. Which, in my experience, doesn't happen either.

It's really splitting hairs for your purposes, it's just interesting to ponder. Everyone thinks everyone else is talking about Topic A, so they say they are too. But are they REALLY? I'm not convinced.

Sexual bragging is DEFINITELY a part of straight male behavior. Are they doing it because they want to talk about it or because they're meant to? Probably the latter, but as someone pointed out, women aren't allowed to do it because they can't OWN their sexuality where as men MUST, so yes, there are problems on both ends of the spectrum, to be sure.

Now wait a minute! We weren't talking about sexual bragging. We were talking about discussing masturbation with friends. Not the same thing. If your question was "do you talk about sex with your friends," my answers would be completely different.

they can't OWN their sexuality

That almost borders on insulting. Women certainly CAN and and many certainly DO own their own sexuality.

I'm talking about a cultural phenomenon, yes THEY can and it's good that they do when they do, but societal norms still call a woman who sleeps with a lot of men a slut, and a man who sleeps with a lot of women hot shit, that's what I meant by not being able to own it.

As for sexual bragging, I should've said bragging of a sexual nature.
