What do you think Winchester retirement looks like? I wonder these things, because I know in my heart that neither of the boys will die young. Will they run a surf shop? Or a Military surplus store? Will there be kids, will it be in the big city or in the mountains?

I think Dean's going to cure his fear of flying and get his pilot's license. He's going to needle Sam about stealing an F-15 at every opportunity (you need these things to fight ghosts). They're going to have an airy rickety house out in the Indiana Dunes or in Belgrade, Maine (shout outs to [livejournal.com profile] lokiie, and Dean will trip over all the books Sam keeps. There will be two dogs, Newfoundlands, one named Pharaoh and the other Rosie (oh yeah, the ac/dc references keep coming), and they go hunting with them.

Dean will refuse to do the laundry always, and Sam will purposely mismatch his socks to get him back. There will be lazy sex and blowy curtains and maybe a hammock. Dean will start collecting vinyl now that he has a safe place to keep it, and Sam hooks up a soundsystem for him so he can blast away.

Sam in the mean time will build up a Monty Python collection, start a running club, and run around in a fuzzy robe billed in the catalogue as "the cloud."

What about you?

BELGRADE. HUZZAH. ♥

That is a lovely future. I want it for them. :\ Dean would bitch every five minutes about the cold in winter, and Sam could drag him out on the lake when it ices over enough and laugh every time Dean falls on his ass while he grumbles and swears and threatens bodily harm.

Old, retiered, 'Married' boys make me SO HAPPY.

I don;t know much about the north, but! I can sooo imagine Dean and Sam as those habitual old guys who go to the same diner every day and get to know every little detail about their neighbors and the individuals the interact with daily. After all that time on the road, living in a small community would make the boys feel so secure and happy, I'd imagine.

AND DOGS, yes. Also, Dean has a pet cat - even if he says she's a stray and that he hates her shedding on his lap - he totally loves it and buys cans of tuna JUST for her.

FUZZY ROBE. Awesome.

I sort of always wanted Sam to go finish his degree, so that. And then I like the idea of them settled on the coast somewhere, Santa Cruz maybe, or if that's too close to Palo Alto for Sam then somewhere else, and Dean learning to surf and getting all crinkly and freckles everywhere, and Sam working part-time in an independent bookstore and Dean comes in and gets sand all over the floor and buys Douglas Adams. And still there are the occasional hunts, of course, but there's not such a sense of urgency now, because they may not like all the other hunters, but there are good people out there getting the job done. And they eat pie every night. Which Dean totally bakes.

(Or they go live in the heartland somewhere and have a farm and there are many rolls in the hay. Whichever.)

That's what happens in my Flower Power!story, but only because I'm from Palo Alto, so I was like AHAH, I KNOW ABOUT SANTA CRUZ.

..oh, and I think Dean accidentally starts keeping ferrets. Because ferrets are playful and funny and cute and horny and occasionally violent, and he can relate...

and Sam is always trying to educate the local pagan kids about ...stuff, and dean is off in the corner, snickering and mumbling things under his breath.. but secretly, he is proud of Sam, because Sam's come so far in the way he treats reg. people (see: S1E2)
