I've finally gotten up the nerve to do this. I've been really curious for a long time, which means you should all indulge me. What are your unpopular fandom opinions? Do you think Jensen is sekritly a diabolical bastard with a plan to take over the entire world? Do you actually support the Writers Guild Strike? Do you think Dean is actually ugly and that no girl in the world would be swayed by his charms? Is Draco Malfoy actually a prostitute with brown hair--oops wrong fandom.

I guess, my unpopular fandom opinion is that I don't care if somebody asks the boys about Wincest. I know I probably won't like the answer, but I don't feel like I'm invading their privacy by knowing. Also, in my opinion Sam made his mobile move in the pilot, and is therefore special without the demon blood. Ur, I can't think of anything else at the moment, but yeah, I know I have them.

Oh, oh, I don't particularly care about Sandy, and that's probably just jealousy talking, but really, I don't think she's that adorable or anything, I just feel like she is tiny, she wears fewer clothes than a girl ordinarily would to earn my respect, and she exists. Yay.

NOW YOU! I mean, I don't want this to be a place of wank or anything, but I'm curious to know what your take on things is. Mebbe we can all find mutual unpopular opinions and be happy with balloons and candy and such.

Uhm, oh. I can comment about Dean. I think a lot of the time that he's fucking sleazy as hell and might give me the heebie jeebies if I knew him in real life. If you know, he were real. I think a lot of the time he only gets what he wants because he's "attractive" and not because he said please or because he's charming. Basically, if he were ugly a lot of the time him and Sam would be screwed and not in a good way. I mean yeah, there's Sam too and he could probably get what they need and such and uhm, I'm going to shut up now.

No, you know, that is how I feel so often about Dean's characterization on the show. I think he can be downright sleazy at times but because he's pretty people see it as charming. I still love the character but yeah there have been times when I just cringed watching the show.

I cringe a lot too, I think the most recent or at least the most recent that I can recall is when he went to see Lisa and was just standing at the door with that look on his face. Just. Ew. Do not want.

There's a book The Gift of Fear (https://www.gavindebecker.com/books-gof.cfm) (which is a great read) and there's a part that talks about men being charming and basically says, "Ted Bundy was charming, it's not such a great quality to have." This is if I'm remembering correctly and I think I am. Now, I'm not suggesting that Dean's a serial killer but that maybe he should rethink his actions.

EXACTLY! THANK YOU. I figure if he was ugly he wouldn't be such a sleazeball, because he wouldn't get away with it, I also think however, that the people writing this show might not realize, that he actually can be a jerk and not a sleaze at the same time? I don't enjoy sleaze very much.

Oh. And about the Wincest asking of.

I personally don't like it because I like their to be a separation between the fans and the actors and yeah. However, I don't think it's HOMG WRONG to ask such a question and Jensen's "Uhm, ew" type reaction is clearly just his way of masking that he wants to have bumsects with Jared because the boy was in a movie where his character made out with his mom so he's really got no room to judge the whole "incest" thing of it, and well as for the gay part ... he wants Jared Full stop

A lot of my unpopular fandom opinions in the past (in past fandoms, that is) involve unpopular opinions on fan fic that is considered truly great. And frankly, people don't actually want constructive criticism on their stories/characterization/etc. I started my fandom experience off many many many years ago in Homicide: LOTS on a group called Autofocus which would really tear into fics posted (in a very good, constructive way, but they were very critical). And I thought this was how is was done. If you didn't think the characterization worked, tell the author and tell them why, etc. So I guess my unpopular opinion is that I truly wish there was more open discourse on fic and that actual concrit was welcomed because I do have some unpopular opinions on popular fics and yet if I post my reasons why or offer my opinions, they are dismissed or I'm defriended or I'm looked at as having attacked someone when I'm truly not. I guess that is why so many people post anonymously, but I don't see the value in that either.

I don't really know if that's a fandom opinion so much as a "let us not baby the writer's in fandom" opinion. I guess we all wish that we had the guts to be like you, you know? truly tell people when they were doing a shatass job, but oh well.
