More Snippets

Midterms are over for me, thank god! As has become fashionable in Generation Kill fandom, I have decided to do a snippet post. You are welcome to post a picture for any fandom I write in (SPN, Generation Kill, RPF, Glee, Never Back Down) and I will respond with fic. The two fics I have in the works are frightening me, but I am in a mood to write.

[livejournal.com profile] amberlynne has been threatening me with 17 requests for more Model!AU, so come participate so I'm not just writing about Brad and Nate prancing about on the runway.

ETA: Oh, song of the day, "One Pure Thought" by Hot Chip, for you dirty-minded girls out there.

Alex cooks him a modest dinner early that evening. It’s just the two of them in the house and he clearly enjoys setting the pork chops and noodles before Stark. Afterwards, Stark slides between his thighs, unzipping his jeans slowly and holding Alex’s gaze the entire way until he has to duck down to take Alex into his mouth. Alex usually lasts forever, sometimes well into Starks’s jaw feeling tight and sore. Tonight he shoots relatively quickly, his hands tightening on the table.

When Stark looks up at him, eyebrows raised, he shakes his head and says, “I don’t know.”

He showers quickly while Stark does the dishes. As the water runs over the mismatched plates, Stark wonders if he can ask Alex to move in with him. He’s startled out of his thoughts by Alex padding back into the kitchen, swabbing his hair dry cursorily with a ratty towel. “You ready?” Alex asks.

It’s time to meet up with friends at a pub before going to the Hammarby match. One of them, Alex introduces him as Erland, says, “So this is your sexy American girlfriend.”

Stark laughs and knocks Alex upside the head. Alex says something to Erland in Swedish but he smiles and looks at Stark the whole time. There are five of them altogether, three of them wear Hammarby jerseys, the other two are in plain green shirts, and Alex is wearing his Hammarby scarf. The pub is filled with others like them. Stark is perfectly happy to sit there and listen to them catch up. They speak in English for his benefit, but the conversation is all theirs. Stark drinks his beer and keeps his eyes on Alex the whole time.

Later as they head to the stadium Stark says casually, “I hear Hammarby won Allsvenskan in 2002.”

Alex looks down at him, face caught by surprise. “You’ve been studying!” And then he drags Stark in, kisses him right there on the street, in front of God and country. Alex's cups his cheeks with one of his long-fingered palms and tongues inside his mouth. It’s breathless and perfect and over too fast. Alex’s friends are whooping at them from up ahead. Alex’s eyes are lowered and he says, in a soft voice that contradicts the tight grip he still has on Stark’s left hip, “Amazing.”

“I guess TMZ can’t get you here,” Stark replies, laughter suddenly welling up through his throat.

Alex grins like he’s planning to push that to the limit, but Erland calls back to them, “Hey Fjolla, if we miss the kick off because of you, I will shit in your bed.”

Alex snorts and shouts back, “Dra åt helvete!” He knocks Stark with his shoulder. “Shall we?”

I wrote you like an actual fic right there. Over 1700 words. I am proud of myself. Most of it was Hugh's long speech about soccer! Just goes to show how much I want a sport's au.

*Of Sweden’s current national team, only four players currently play in the Swedish league. But they do have Zlatan Ibrahimović, who is a bastard, but an amazing player. It’s funny, because I’m biased, obviously, but it’s famously said that the Dutch don’t get to play enough together because they’re all exported elsewhere, however, the current Dutch national team has more than 8 players who all play in the Dutch league.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! YAY FOR ACTUAL FIC!

Oh, man, Stark asking Hugh for soccer info is GENIUS! And I love how comfortable Alex is in Sweden and wanting to have Stark there and awwwwwwwwwwwwww kissing on the STREET!!! ♥ AMAZING!

I hope in my heart of hearts that in real life Stark still sees Hugh. That would just be too adorable. They could have a soccer watching party and Hugh and Alex would get in each others' faces about teams and Stark would be like I'm just going to eat all of the guacamole I made and pretend you are random invaders in my home.

I hate PDA in real life, but I'm very fond of declaratory gestures in fic.

Wow, I love this universe! And Stark - learning about soccer. The ultimate demonstration of love!

Thank you! I'm like inordinately attached to it now. I'm just thinking about Stark choosing a team like Celtic or something, and Alex is like "NO! HOW COULD YOU!" Because he'll never forgive Celtic for stealing Henrik Larsson during the best years of his career. And Stark is like Danny Fox is so hot (internally laughing) and Alex steams over it. And Stark has to be like no, no, Shaun Maloney is totally fucking him! Don't worry. And then Hugh finds out that Stark is rooting for a Scottish team and he threatens a holy war against Alex.

Right...got a bit carried away there.

I'm seriously impressed with your knowlegde of the SPL. Usually most forget that there is anything outside the English Prem. or the big Euro Clubs - nevermind all those 'part-time' leagues. I actually passed the Celtic Supporters Shop yesterday - they had that picture on display (possibly life-sized, hence me remembering it).

I'm Dutch and my grandfather used to play for PSV before they went pro, so I have him as a vast resource, not to mention I also understand what's it like not to be all SOCCER EXISTS ONLY IN THE BIG CLUBS. So many of my favorite players are on German or Dutch teams that nobody has ever heard of. I'm thinking of switching allegiance to the Bohemians though, just because their name is so awesome!

Fantastic fun. Great sense of Sweden here. And this week Hammarby lost again, and both they and Djurgården might end up in Superettan next year. (Not that I mind, since this means that my team, Örgyte, actually might have a chance to stay on in Allsvenskan next year, yay!)

I have actually never been to Sweden so that cheers me that you aren't like, "ARG, THIS IS SO WRONG!"

OK, first of all, I can't believe I've been missing this incredible post full of snippets of awesome! I love them all, specially the ones Model!AU related.

And dude, I don't even read RPF (well, I guess GK could be seen as RPF, BUT IT'S NOT, NOT REALLY!), but I read about ASkars and football (and boy, I'd like to believe that Alex calls it football, not soccer), and being Brazilian, I just had to read it. It was like, compulsory! I was afraid I might get my Brazilian card revoked if I didn't, but I digress. The thing is? I loved everything about Stark learning about football! And while RPF is so not my thing, this was incredibly sweet, and you just made me kinda like RPF, and now I don't know what I'll do with myself.

Seriously, though? This entire post is made of WIN!

Re: prompt, Part 3

[identity profile] dark-reaction.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see GK as RPF either. I'm not interested in the actual Nate Fick in Washington DC fucking Staff Sergeant Crazyman Brad Colbert or whatever rank he's got himself to now. Especially because the more I learn from them, the more I realize that their characterization really is a separate entity.

Why would he call it soccer? He's not American.

Anyway, ignore the RPF, it really was a vehicle to wax lyrical of about soccer. So I'm very glad you enjoyed it.

Why would he call it soccer? He's not American.

That's exactly my point. I'm very particular about it. So I hope that living in the US (is he living in the US?) and having to explain people why he loves the sport so much haven't made him start saying the "s" word. :)

I've been hoping for GK rps and there is so little, so seeing this made me so happy and then it is extra awesome to boot! I love Stark studying up and all the little moments of intimacy and happiness between them (Alex kissing his sunburned cheek! Stark touching the back of his neck with the teeth brushing! Alex cooks! Stark thinks about him moving in - and Alex's earlier reaction to the question about living in Sweden!).

Wow, I love this universe, and Stark is such a cutie studying the history of Hammarby:)
Ya've got a great grasp of the Swedish league. Hammarby's down in Superettan this year but hopefully they'll be back in Allsvenskan next season.
