I saw the description of this and I thought'Models? Really? Meh!' and almost passed it by. But I love a good AU and coincidentally just yesterday read 2 of the few AUs in this fandom and was up for more. Damn am I glad I didn't let preconceived notions stop me. This is fabulous!
All the name dropping might seem a little pretentious under a less deft hand, but in your writing it just comes across as fast paced, smart and snarky - just the way I picture the the fashion industry to be.
I adore the little throwaway details: ... and a fat little dog that runs around in the street that seems to belong to everybody. That's the kind of tidbit that doesn't further the story one damn bit but makes it seem so much richer, especially because it's a nearly invisible little highlight. And I love a story with humor woven into it - even stories foreshadowed by angst and uncertainty.
A particular kink of mine is a straight boy being gay for one particular person. There's just something so inevitable about that.
This is a definitely keeper and a great early morning wake-up. *G*
Oh, and hot. Did I mention hot? Great googly-moogly! The sex is so scorching, I think in part because the lead up is rather underplayed. Just hot!
I personally would love to see a sequel to this. Brad may have plumbed Nate's depths (so to speak) but he hasn't even gotten below the surface yet.
