I think I'm coming from a different perspective. I'm also against the death penalty, but I completely appreciate why people want revenge. Some criminals do things so horrible it's hard to imagine still wanting them around. And I really think it's impossible to punish sociopaths because they are not capable of feeling remorse or even acknowledging that what they did is wrong.
So I understand why people feel a gut need to have a death penalty, but I think it is shameful that so many states in the US actually have it and implement it. It is basically just an organized lynch mob that comes in and out of vogue.
