What an extraordinary story. I just couldn't stop reading it, it kind of enveloped and fascinated me.
I thought the alters were very well drawn, very distinct, each serving their own purpose, which I guess is the whole point of having alters in the first place (from a clinical perspective).
I thought the ending was terrific, because it seemed that the commonality that the alters all had was Dean, rather than Sam. So he, in some respects, became their conscience, their guiding principle, and in the end, their motivation for healing and integrating. Because that's what Dean would like, and they ALL love him.

Meh, I'm not commenting properly. I adored this, it was so original, and so unexpected, and so believable. I loved Dean here: I think this is exactly how he would act in these circumstances, not judging, just learning and accepting and protecting. That's canon, for me, that there is nothing that Sam could do or be that would stop him loving and protecting him.

Genius, and I haven't even really commented about your prose style which is elegant and really pleasurable to read. Thanks for this, I'm provoked and inspired.
